My son loves marine biology, so when we got the chance to watch a documentary on the ocean the other day he was thrilled. The episode we watched was about marine life in the coral reef. I perked up when the narrator started talking about a particular shark that lived among the coral reef. They showed a picture of a blacktip reef shark with a sleek body cruising along the reef as if he fit right in. The narrator explained that this particular shark hangs around the reef long enough that the other fish grow familiar with him instead of fearing him. He then can sneak up on his prey with ease to devour them.

Isn’t that just like Satan? After all Jesus told us in John 10:10,
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” We have to be on guard against every attempt of the enemy to become “familiar” with us. We need to turn back any enticement to compromise and repent of every “pet” sin that wants to possess us. Let’s make certain we have no common ground with the enemy, for His desire is to devour our future and keep us from abundant life Jesus has for us.
