“Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” — John 7:38

I’ve had so much fun lately with my first grandson, Jonas.  I don’t want to sound too much like a boasting grandma, but Jonas is an amazing boy.  When I look at him, it’s easy to see how cute, smiley, and cuddly he is … but I also can’t help but notice how big he is for his age.  When he was born he was 24 ½ inches long, and at only 4 months he’s already bigger than 90% of all one-year-olds.

Even though Jonas is so “big,” he’s still a baby with all its vulnerability and dependency.  He needs his mom and dad (and me as often as possible) to hold him, feed him, change him, and all the rest.  While he might be big for his age, he still reminds me of a little lamb who needs to be looked after and cared for.

It’s much the same for you and I as believers in Christ.  No matter how big we are, how strong we appear, or how mature we feel we’ve become, we all need the care, guidance, comforting, and protection only the Lord can provide.  That’s one reason I’m so thankful Jesus came as the Lamb of God that first Easter.   His sacrifice made the way for Him to become
my Great Shepherd.  If I ever wander off the path or am attacked by the enemy, I know He will be there to guide me and protect me, for “He tends His flock like a shepherd:  He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart” (Isaiah 40:11).
