“Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” — John 7:38
Flying by the Instruments, by Gini Kittle

One thing that always amazes me when I fly in an airplane is that the pilot knows how to navigate through all the clouds.  I realize there are high-tech navigational instruments in the cockpit that help guide the airplane to the final destination.  I’m glad he doesn’t have to rely on his senses and can rely on them instead.  They allow the pilot to keep the plane going the right speed, at the right altitude, and in the right direction despite the fog or darkness he might currently be flying through.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you and I had such an instrument panel built inside of us?  Wouldn’t it be nice if when the difficulties of life cloud our path, we had clear direction and knew precisely how to navigate our way?  Well, we do … or at least we can.  The Word of God — His promises, instruction, and direction for our lives — can be the “instrument panel” of our lives … if we let it.  When we are afraid, want to give up, or feel we have lost our way, all we have to do is look to His Word!  We must trust God and His Word, not our feelings, emotions, or experiences.  Psalm 119:105 tells us,
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”  If we try to live by anything other than the Word of God, we will lose our way and may “crash.”  It is His Word that will keep our lives on course.  Let us learn to fly by the unswerving instruments of God’s Word.  If we do, we will stay on “the appointed course that is set before us” (Hebrews 12:1).
